Paul Witschger is a PHP developer with a passion for learning new things. This primary passion fuels his secondary passion: programming. Together, these passions drive Paul’s PHP coding business. Always eager to put his skills to work for his clients, Paul enjoys learning about each client’s business, needs, and ideas and then translating that information into functional code.
Though Paul is skilled – and certified – in Microsoft technologies, he consistently gravitates to alternative technologies including Linux and Macintosh. In fact, you’ll have a hard time separating him from his beloved Linux machine – an Ubuntu workhorse that he uses for most everything. As far as programming languages go, Paul is skilled in C# and Visual Basic and has dabbled in C, C++, Java, and Ruby (both with and without “Rails”), but he keeps coming back to his true love: PHP. Paul grew up in Southern California, served in the military for eight years, and settled in South Carolina. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Horry-Georgetown Technical College, earning an associate’s of computer technology degree with a focus in programming. He is also a Microsoft Certified Professional (Microsoft 2000 Professional) and Microsoft Office User Specialist (Word 2003, Access 2003, and Excel 2003 Expert). Currently, Paul lives in Austin, Texas where he is under contract with Apple, Inc.
Besides his passions for learning and programming, what else drives Paul? Caffeine! Paul loves coffee, tea, and Mountain Dew. After a full day’s work, it’s not unusual for Paul to grab another cup of coffee and head for his home office where he indulges in programming his personal projects. Yes, he loves PHP programming that much! He’s an active member of the CodeIgniter forums where he’s known by his screen name of theprodigy. As theprodigy, Paul pitches in, helping others with their coding challenges.
